We offer dental implants to our patients who have lost one or more teeth. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth and because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent. Dental implants are durable and provide improved speech, improved comfort of dentures, and overall improved oral health.
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants provide a strong foundation to permanently secure crowns or loose dentures. A dental implant consists of a titanium cylinder that is placed in the upper or lower jaw by an oral surgeon.
During a healing time of approximately 3 months, the bone of the jaw grows around the implant thus the cylinder bonds to the bone of the jaw. The cylinder then acts as a root so a tooth or teeth can be firmly attached. A temporary appliance is sometimes worn during the healing time. Dental implants can also be used to hold upper and lower dentures in place.
Our dental office works with highly trained periodontists as a team to achieve the best results. After dental implant treatment, periodic follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor the implant, teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy.
